REHABILITATION AND CONDITIONING
Physical therapy in people has been utilized to great success since the early 1900’s. Only relatively recently have these techniques been applied with amazing results to help animals recover from illness or injury, and to enhance their athletic abilities. |
|
The goals of a rehabilitation program are to:
Increase mobility after orthopedic or neurological injury
Improve and prolong the quality of life of geriatric and arthritic patients
Achieve weight loss in overweight or obese patients
Increase the fitness of athletic or working animals by increasing strength, endurance, Cardiovascular health, and flexibility
|
The goals are achievable with the cooperative efforts of a well-trained rehabilitation team, dedicated owners, and primary veterinarians.
To accomplish these goals, many modalities are utilized to create an individual program to address your pet’s special needs:
Manual therapy (joint mobilizations)
Therapeutic massage
Stretching
Targeted muscle group exercises
Range of motion exercises
Thermal therapy
Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation
Therapeutic ultrasound
Therapeutic laser
Shock wave therapy
Underwater and land treadmills
Your pet’s therapeutic program will be supervised by trained and certified canine rehabilitation therapists in a comfortable and reassuring environment. |
