The Animal Clinic and Wellness Center is one of a few accredited facilities performing the groundbreaking technique of using your pet's own fat tissue to harvest stem cells to regenerate injured tissue in dogs suffering from arthritis, or tendon and ligament damage.
What is it?
Stem cells derived from the fat tissue of the patient are then injected into injured or degenerating joints. These cells have the power to become bone, cartilage or fibrous tissue to help restore some of the integrity of the diseased tissue. This improves the function of the joint and significantly reduces pain.
Is my pet a candidate?
If your dog is suffering from hip dysplasia, knee, elbow or shoulder arthritis, or tendon or ligament injuries, he or she may well benefit from this newest of technologies.
What is the success rate?
At this time over 80% of owners report increased pain free movement and significant improvement in the quality of life for their pets.
What are the risks?
Since we are using your pets own tissue, there is no risk of rejection. There are 2 procedures. One to harvest your pet's fat tissue and the second is to inject the stem cells, usually two days later. The 1 st procedure is preformed under light anesthesia, and the 2 nd under moderate sedation. There may be some short term inflammation or some fluid accumulation at the site of the fat harvest.
Is there evidence to back up these wonderful claims?
The first peer reviewed placebo controlled double blind trail evaluated 21 dogs with severe hip dysplasia showed significant improvement in lameness and comfort after 1 treatment.
We would be happy to answer your questions about this exciting technology. We would love to see your pet benefit from this latest veterinary medical breakthrough.
